Privacy

Privacy

The short version: this site doesn't track you, sets no cookies, and — unless you choose to subscribe to the newsletter — collects nothing that could identify you. There's no consent banner because there's nothing to consent to.

Analytics

I use Fathom Analytics, a privacy-first, cookieless analytics service, to see which pages get read and where visitors arrive from — in aggregate only. It's designed so I can spot useful trends without ever knowing who you are.

What Fathom records, all aggregated and anonymous:

I also record a few anonymous interaction events — such as a newsletter signup, a download, or an audio play — so I can see which features get used. These are aggregate counts only, with nothing that identifies you, and your email is never part of an event.

IP addresses are processed only briefly — for security and to generate an anonymous, hashed visitor signature — and are never stored with the analytics data or included in any export. Visitors in the EU have their data processed on EU-based servers. Fathom is GDPR, CCPA, ePrivacy/PECR, and Schrems II compliant; you can read their full data policy at usefathom.com/data.

Newsletter

The newsletter is entirely optional and opt-in. If you subscribe, your email address is stored and processed by Kit (formerly ConvertKit), the service that manages the list and sends the emails, for the sole purpose of sending you new essays and the occasional tool. It's double opt-in — you confirm before anything is sent — and every email has a one-click unsubscribe. I never sell or share your address, and you can leave anytime.

Cookies

None. This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies, which is exactly why you won't see a cookie banner.

The only thing stored in your browser is a small preference — your choice of light or dark theme — kept in localStorage. It never leaves your device, isn't a cookie, and is sent to no one. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

In-browser tools

The voice generator runs entirely on your device. The text you type and the audio it produces never leave your browser — there's no server doing the work. The one-time model download comes from a public CDN, which sees only the request (as any file download would), not your text or audio.

Hosting & files

The site is static and served by Cloudflare Pages, and downloads and media are served from Cloudflare too. Like any web host, Cloudflare may transiently process request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver files and guard against abuse, under its own policies.
